How we research, write, review, and update the information on this site.
Financing decisions affect your livelihood. Here's exactly how our content is made.
Who writes our content
Our pages are written and maintained by the Liquor Stores Financing editorial team, people who work with liquor store owners on real funding requests. Where a page has been reviewed by a named lending professional, the reviewer is credited at the top of the page.
How we research
- Primary sources first. We cite the U.S. Small Business Administration and its SOPs, the Code of Federal Regulations, the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), the IRS, and state alcohol beverage control agencies
- Real-world practice. We describe how lenders actually underwrite liquor stores
- Ranges, not promises. Rates, terms, and costs are typical ranges, and examples are labeled as illustrations
- State differences. Alcohol is regulated state by state. We flag when rules vary
Review schedule
Every page is checked against its cited sources before publishing and reviewed at least every six months, or sooner when SBA rules, regulations, or market conditions change. Each page shows its last-updated date.
Use of technology
We may use software tools, including AI-assisted research and drafting tools. Every page is reviewed and edited by a person and checked against primary sources before it's published.
Independence
We're compensated by our lending partner when loans close (see disclosures). That doesn't change what we publish. We'll tell you when a product is expensive, when a cash advance is a bad idea, or when an SBA loan is the better route.
